UChicago Internal Funding Mechanisms

France and Chicago Collaborating in the Sciences (FACCTS)

Managed by the France Chicago Center, the FACCTS program provides seed funding for preliminary cooperative research between research teams in France and faculty in UChicago’s Physical Sciences Division, Biological Science Division, or Pritzker School for molecular Engineering (up to $30k per project). Through a partnership with Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab, researchers at Argonne National Laboratory and Fermilab are also eligible for FACCTS support and are encouraged to apply.

International Institute for Research in Paris (IIRP) Grants

Housed within the John W. Boyer Center in Paris, the IIRP supports and promotes UChicago’s engagement through Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. IIRP grants support collaborations between members of the University of Chicago’s research community and creative, scholarly, and research communities in institutions in Europe, Africa, or the Middle East. Grants are available for up to $50k for 3-year projects.

The France Chicago Center invites IRC Discovery-affiliated research teams in the Humanities and/or Social Sciences to apply for funding (up to $7.5k) to help seed promising collaborative research initiatives in their early stages. These grants are best suited for funding activities taking place mostly on the Chicago campus.
