UChicago and CNRS researchers working in collaboration may consider supporting their work though one of the following international cooperation tools offered by the CNRS.

International Research Projects

IRPs support established research collaborations over a 5-year period through the funding of short- and medium-term scientific exchanges, such as international workshops, seminars, and field research. IRPs receive €50k-€75k in funding from the CNRS.

IRNs strengthen existing partnerships over a 5-year period through the funding of international workshops and seminars but are intended for newer collaborations. IRNs receive €50k-€75k in funding from the CNRS. Current CNRS-UChicago IRNs include the IRN on Postcolonial Print Cultures and IRN Transforming Homo Economicus: The Use of Other Social Sciences in US Economics, 1918-2018.

International Emerging Actions

IEAs are 2-year structuring mechanisms dedicated to new partnerships and the exploration of new fields of research. They support the short-term mobility of researchers, the organization of working meetings, and the initiation of early-stage joint research works. IEAs receive €10k-€14k in funding from the CNRS.
