About
The solutions to the world’s greatest challenges cannot be pursued alone; they are found in working together across borders and across disciplines and in merging resources and infrastructures on an international scale to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
As a hub for multi-disciplinary partnerships between the University of Chicago and France’s National Centre for Scientific Research (the CNRS), IRC Discovery leverages both institutions’ robust networks and large-scale investments in research to advance inquiry into and exploration of the greatest challenges and questions facing our world today, from climate and energy, particle physics and cosmology, and health and medicine, to the potential of quantum technologies, the conditions and forms of democracy, and the foundations of knowledge.
With dedicated programming and administrative support, IRC Discovery fosters productive research partnerships, creates opportunities for learning and career enhancement, provides early-career researcher training, ensures access to facilities and infrastructure, and advances the strategic priorities of two of the world’s leading research institutions on a global scale.
Our team includes a network of senior leaders, faculty, and staff in Chicago, France, and Washington, D.C. Together we are here to provide the support collaborating researchers need at all stages of their partnership.
